Client: Fusion
The Clarkson Alliance has teamed up with Fusion Lifestyle, a not for profit trust organisation, to improve and develop the leisure facilities in various London boroughs with a view to increase participation in sports and other community activities, as well as to enhance the experience of existing regular customers. This will be achieved by capital improvements and a revised management system, marking an altogether more accessible and enjoyable service.
By outsourcing the management of the leisure centres to Fusion, individual local authorities are relieved of the financial burden that the centres often pose and are subsequently able to use resources elsewhere. Staff at Fusion are able to apply their vast experience and expertise to the management of the leisure centres, increasing revenue which can then be invested by the local authority back into the community.
Fusion has appointed The Clarkson Alliance as design and consultant project manager to oversee the capital improvement works. This contract will cover the London Boroughs of Croydon, Hillingdon, Hounslow and Southwark as well as leisure centres in Milton Keynes, Tunbridge Wells and Leatherhead.
The contract encompasses Capital Improvement Works to several Leisure Centres and Community Halls. Some of the more notable improvement works are taking place at Feltham Airparcs Leisure Centre, where a new 300m2 library is being constructed, with a dual entrance to both the library and leisure facilities to create a ‘Leisure Hub’. The existing gymnasium is to be relocated and transformed into a state of the art 100 station gym, with the existing tennis courts being resurfaced with a multi use all weather pitch which is to be floodlit. Two of the tennis courts will be covered to allow for year round use. All of the existing changing facilities will also be refurbished.
Similar improvement works will be undertaken at many of the Leisure Centres to provide high quality facilities to the public. It is the aim of The Clarkson Alliance and Fusion to ensure the facilities provided are of the same quality as those found in private Leisure Centres.
